MCC basketball standout Kyle Ervin Jr. has received national honors for the recently
completed men’s basketball season.
Ervin has been named to the All-American Third Team of the NCJAA Division II. The
6-foot- 7, 230-pound forward from Detroit averaged 21.7 points and 12 rebounds per game for
Jayhawks, who finished 22-7 and won the Western Conference title.
Ervin ranked seventh nationally in rebounds and 16th in scoring. He scored in double
figures in all 21 games that he played in and recorded 14 double-doubles.
The MCC men’s basketball team also received several league post-season honors for
its five starters and coach.
Ricarri Stimage and Ervin Jr. were both named to the All-Region, All-MCCAA, and
First Team All-Conference Teams.
Sergio Diaz was named Second Team All-Conference as well as to the Western
Conference All-Freshman Team.
Mike Williams was voted to the All-Defensive Team and an All-Conference
Daryl Kirkland II was named to the NJCAA District 9 All-Tournament Team.
MCC head coach Dave Schlump was voted Western Conference Coach of the Year.
“I am happy for the guys who were fortunate enough to be recognized,” said Schlump.
“Individual awards are nice to get, but I truly believe that individual awards are more often
than not the result of team success.”
